As you are likely aware, iDigBio is currently pursuing its final year of NSF funding with a scheduled termination of 31 August 2026. However, we have been approved for a no-cost-extension, which will allow us to continue into 2027.
We wanted to alert you that we are in the process of transitioning iDigBio’s current website, wiki, and other services. However, we want to assure you that there will be no impact to access of iDigBio’s data portal or the several hundred portals of the Symbiota network.
On April 24, iDigBio.org will be transitioned to a minimal single-page format with the following links:
- This new GBIF Hosted Portal, which will be the future face of iDigBio.
- Our new iDigBio Events Hub, which will host details of our upcoming webinars, conferences, and other online events.
- An archive of iDigBio’s legacy website and wiki on the Internet Archive’s Wayback Machine.
The archive does not nor is intended to function as an active website but will provide access to the information in perpetuity. - iDigBio’s legacy data portal, noting that data ingestion into this portal will cease on 01 June 2026 because more than 98% of our providers are now registered with and serving data through GBIF. We strongly encourage all of our providers to ensure they are registered with and serving their specimen data to GBIF.
Finally, note that the legacy iDigBio IPT has also moved. All of its content (including user accounts) has migrated to the GBIF U.S. IPT. While the legacy IPT will automatically redirect to the new IPT for now, we advise that those old links be updated to point to the new IPT going forward.
We appreciate your patience and support as we work through these transitions!
